Three held after armed raid on Clondalkin post office

Gardaí are questioning three men arrested following an armed raid on a post office in Clondalkin yesterday.

Two men - one armed with a gun and the other with a sledgehammer - entered the post office at the Mill Shopping Centre, Clondalkin at around 11am yesterday.

The raiders threatened staff and demanded money before leaving the scene in a waiting car.

A similar car was found abandoned on St Patricks Road. It is believed that the raiders got into different cars.

Gardaí later stopped a car and arrested two men aged 27 and 37, who are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.

A third man aged 25 was arrested during a follow-up search and is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

There were no shots fired and no one injured during the robbery.

Gardai in Clondalkin are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
