Three people have been arrested after an assault in Cavan which left a man critically ill in hospital.

Three people have been arrested after an assault in Cavan which left a man critically ill in hospital.

The 55-year-old was injured in the incident at Stonebridge Apartments in the town at around 3am.

He was taken by emergency services to Cavan General hospital where his condition i's described as "critical but stable".

Two men, aged 55 and 25, and a woman aged 27 have been arrested for questioning. They are being questioned in Cavan garda station.
