Three men have been arrested after a number of firearms were seized in Ratoath, Co Meath.

Three men have been arrested after a number of firearms were seized in Ratoath, Co Meath.

As part of an ongoing operation Gardaí stopped two vehicles in the Ratoath area this evening.

Two assault rifles and several hundred rounds of ammunition were discovered during that search.

In a follow up operation two semi-automatic pistols, silencers and further quantities of ammunition were also discovered.

Three men in their 30s have been arrested under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act at Ashbourne and Kells Garda Stations.
