Thousands gather in Cork town to pay tribute to Karen Buckley

Thousands of people are paying their respects to the family of Karen Buckley in Co Cork this evening.

The 24-year-old graduate student was found dead in Glasgow earlier this month, having gone missing on a night out.

O’Connell’s funeral home in Mallow opened an hour early this afternoon to allow mourners to attend, prompting a large queue to form around the corner.

The removal will take place tonight to the Buckley family’s parish of Annaleentha, where the funeral will be held tomorrow.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Ms Buckley and has been remanded in custody in Glasgow.
