Third person charged in connection with New Year's Day death in Tallaght

A 20-year-old man has appeared in court in Dublin charged in connection with a fatal attack in Tallaght on New Year’s Day.

Ross Callery of Westpark Estate, Tallaght is accused of violent disorder at the footbridge at St Dominic’s Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

20-year-old Dale Creighton died at Beaumont hospital yesterday afternoon from head injuries suffered in an attack by a group in Tallaght at around 4am on New Year’s Day.

Today, Ross Callery was the third person to appear in court in connection with the assault on a charge of violent disorder.

Judge John O’Neill has said he will grant him bail, despite objections from Det Gda Kieran McGrath who gave evidence Ross Callery was caught red-handed.

He told the court the accused is captured on CCTV footage of the incident.

A fourth person - a 23-year-old man - is due to appear in court this afternoon in connection with the attack while three more men remain in garda custody for questioning.
