A teenager is in hospital after an organised fight in North County Dublin allegedly pre-planned on social media last weekend.

A teenager is in hospital after an organised fight in North County Dublin allegedly pre-planned on social media last weekend.

The 17-year-old is being treated at Beaumont Hospital after being found unconscious in Swords in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detective are trawling CCTV from nearby businesses and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

Professor of Psychiatry at Trinity College Dublin Brendan Kelly said that peer pressure has been intensified hugely by the speed and "the reach of social media."

"Younger people are more at risk because they're so immersed in social media."

Detectives are investigating whether he was punched during a fight which had been pre-arranged on social media.

They are trawling CCTV from nearby businesses and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
