A 14-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident in Co Clare.

A 14-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident in Co Clare.

The teenager was cycling between Ennistymon and Lahinch at around midnight when he was struck by a car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a postmortem will be carried out.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
