A 13-year-old boy has died after being knocked down in County Donegal last night.

A 13-year-old boy has died after being knocked down in County Donegal last night.

It happened in Ballymacarry just outside Buncrana on the main Buncrana to Carndonagh Road at about 10.30pm.

The 13-year-old boy was struck by a car and another pedestrian in his late 50's was also injured in the incident. He was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and also removed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

A post mortem examination will take place later today.

A Garda investigation is underway.
