He will begin his trip in Washington DC where he will meet a number of business leaders in the Irish/American community.

The Taoiseach's first engagement this morning is a speech at the US Chamber of Commerce where Mr Kenny will highlight government policy with regard to Ireland's economic recovery, emphasising also Ireland's strengths as a location for foreign direct investment.

He is due to meet President Obama at the White House tomorrow morning, followed by an address at the Speakers Lunch on Capital Hill and then the traditional Shamrock Presentation Ceremony.

Mr Kenny will then fly to Boston and New York to meet the newly-elected mayors of each city, pursuing a theme of investment, jobs and immigration reform.
