Tánaiste: Flannery to resign from Gov position
The Tánaiste, Eamon Gilmore, said he understands Frank Flannery will shortly resign from a Government-appointed post.
Gilmore also repeated in the Dáil that Mr Flannery must appear before the Public Accounts Committee.
Fianna fáil leader Micheal Martin said Mr Flannery has been centre stage in Rehab, in Fine Gael, and in lobbying Government, but has not co-operated with the PAC.
"On the very day Public Accounts was meeting with Rehab, Mr Flannery was actually in Leinster House on other business - which was metaphorically giving the two fingers to … the committee," he said.
He also questioned Mr Flannery's continuation in a Government forum on philanthropy as chair - but Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore advised the Dáil that would soon be no longer the case:
"With regard to Mr Flannery's position as chair of the board on philanthropy, it is my understanding that he is stepping down from that position," Gilmore said.
He again urged Frank Flannery to appear before PAC, and insisted that the lobbying legislation promised for three years in the PFG would be put in place in the coming months.
