Talks aimed at averting industrial action at Eircom are set to continue today at the Labour Relations Commission.

Talks aimed at averting industrial action at Eircom are set to continue today at the Labour Relations Commission.

Unions and management at the company met for six hours yesterday to try to find a way to avert a strike over an outstanding 2% pay increase due under the social partnership process.

The unions have voted to take action over the company's refusal to pay the increase unless they agree to work-practice changes.

They say this is unacceptable as the 2% is designed to meet the rising cost of living and is not supposed to be linked to improved productivity.
