Suspicious package delivered to Gay and Lesbian Equality Network

Emergency services responded to a threat at an LGBT support service in Dublin today.

GLEN, the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network, said a suspicious package arrived at their office this morning.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and, after a few hours, the Army Bomb Disposal Unit ruled out any danger.

Earlier, a spokesperson for GLEN said the staff were told to wait inside the building for the arrival of the bomb squad to inspect the package.

It is understood the package was an envelope with an unknown substance inside, and a threatening message written on the exterior.

Several units of the Dublin Fire Brigade also attended the scene at the offices on Upper Exchange Street, including hazardous materials teams.

Staff at GLEN were given the all-clear at approximately 2.50pm, two hours after the initial discovery.

The group updated their twitter account from inside the building, saying "we have no reason to believe we're in any way unsafe."
