Former workers at the recently closed sugar factories in Mallow and Carlow are staging a protest outside Greencore's head office in Dublin today.
The protestors are accusing the company of ignoring a Labour Court recommendation which awarded SIPTU and TEEU members improved redundancy terms.
They say Greencore initially accepted the recommendation for the 150 workers who were made redundant at the Mallow plant, but later reneged on the commitment.
The workers are now calling on the Minister for Agriculture to halt the distribution of EU compensation to Greencore until the company honours the redundancy terms.
The company, meanwhile, has rejected their accusations and says the redundancy package being offered complies fully with an agreement reached with the trade unions.
Greencore says some of the workers have received payments in excess of €200,000 and a significant number of former staff have already picked up their full redundancy cheques.
It also claims some workers are attempting to get paid on the double, in breach of the agreement.
