Special Dáil debate on alleged bugging set for this evening

The Dáil will hold a special debate at 5.15pm on the alleged bugging of the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.

An hour and a half has been set aside for TD's to discuss the allegations.

It comes as the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors calls on the chairman of GSOC Sean O'Brien to consider his position.

The Justice Minister Alan Shatter briefed his cabinet colleagues this morning on his meetings yesterday with Mr. O'Brien.

Last night the Garda Commissioner called on GSOC to clarify its statement on the controversy, in which it said it found no evidence of Garda misconduct.
