A 34-year-old man has been left fighting for his life following a serious attack in Sligo this morning.

A 34-year-old man has been left fighting for his life following a serious attack in Sligo this morning.

The man was found with stab wounds on Rockwood Parade at around 10am.

He was initially taken to Sligo Regional Hospital, but later airlifted to University Hospital Galway where he remains in a serious condition.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and Gardaí in Sligo are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
