Single case of swine flu confirmed at Cork University Hospital
One case of swine flu has been confirmed at Cork University Hospital.
The HSE has confirmed that a number of people have been affected by an influenza type illness at Cork University Hospital with cases in two wards.
There is currently one confirmed case of the H1N1 virus and in the interest of patient care and to curb the further spread of the illness, visitor restrictions are in place at CUH.
The HSE says the H1N1 strain of the flu virus is one of three strains of flu that the seasonal flu jab protects against.
Hospital management are continuing to monitor the situation and are asking people to strictly adhere to visiting times and not to visit the hospital if they are experiencing flu like symptoms.
