The R421 in Offaly is impassable, while the N7 on the Portlaoise side of Mountrath is also flooded.

There's also severe flooding across counties Kildare and Waterford, while parts of Westmeath, Kilkenny, Monaghan and Leitrim are also affected.

Meanwhile, the river Duiske in Kilkenny has burst its banks in Graiguenamanagh, flooding 10 homes in the town.
