Seven people remain in a serious condition in hospital in the south east this morning following a serious car crash in Co. Carlow over the weekend.

Seven people remain in a serious condition in hospital in the south east this morning following a serious car crash in Co. Carlow over the weekend.

A 42-year-old man was killed in the two-car collision on Saturday.

The crash happened at around 5pm when two cars collided on the Old Bagnelstown-Carlow Road at Ballybannon.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem was carried out yesterday.

Gardaí have a launched a full investigation into the crash.
