Six men and a woman have appeared in court charged with the murder of Dale Creighton in Tallaght last January.

The 20-year-old died after a serious assault at a footbridge on Saint Dominic's Road on New Year's Day.

Aisling Burke (aged 20) of Bolbrook Grove, Tallaght was the first to appear at the District Court this morning, charged with the murder of Mr Creighton.

Also charged with murder are Graham Palmer of Homelawn Rd, Ross Callery of Westpark, David Burke of Village Square, James Reid of Homelawn Avenue, all from Tallaght.

Jason Beresford, who was arrested in Finglas and Gerard Stephens who was picked up by gardaí in Kildare this morning.

All had previously been detained on less serious charges arising from the New Year's Day attack.

There was garda evidence the seven made no reply to the murder charge - all are aged in their 20s and have been remanded in custody to appear in court next Wednesday.

A seventh man, 21-year-old James O' Brien of Avonbeg Drive, Tallaght, has been charged with assault causing harm to Dale Creighton.

Gardaí say they will object to bail when he makes that application at some stage today.
