Senator Norris recovering after liver transplant

Senator David Norris is recovering well after receiving a life-saving liver transplant.

The 69-year-old underwent the operation just over a week ago.

He revealed last summer that he had cancer when an inoperable tumour was found on his liver.

The Senator's close friend Mannix Flynn says he expected to stay in hospital recovering from the transplant for a number of weeks.

"David is doing very well, and the transplant is very successful," he said.

"Of course, these issues can have complications and usually the kind of time for those complications to manifest themselves is about 14 days to two weeks.

"David's been through this procedure over a week now, and all is looking very, very good indeed."
