Second Labour Minister criticises Coveney's coalition comments

Another Labour Minister says she agrees that comments from Simon Coveney this week were "disloyal".

The Agriculture Minister said he could foresee a Fine Gael / Fianna Fáil coalition government in the future, which led Minister Kathleen Lynch to question his loyalties yesterday.

She argued his stance was disloyal as she claims that the Labour Party had spent the past year clearing up Fine Gael "messes".

Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan says, while she understands Minister Coveney was just answering a question, she agrees with Minister Lynch.

Ms O'Sullivan said: "We're working together, we've had very constructive Cabinet meetings, two of them this week.

"I suppose it's understandable there's speculation in the media. I agree with Kathleen Lynch's view in relation to the interview, but I can understand that Minister Coveney was asked a question and he answered it as honestly as he felt he could.

"But look, we're working, our job is to do our job."
