The Garda subaqua unit is searching the river Barrow in Carlow this morning for a 19-year-old man.

The man is understood to have fallen into the river yesterday evening with a subsequent search operation having to be abandoned because of bad weather.

The Gardaí, coastguard, members of the Civil Defence, and dozens of volunteers are also taking part in the search at Millford Bridge, about 3km outside Carlow town.

Separately searches are still continuing in Carlow town for a woman in her late 40s believed to have fallen into the river in the town on Friday night.
