A search for two anglers missing off the south coast resumed today.

The pair disappeared after going out to sea in a dinghy in near- flat calm conditions off Helvick Head, near Dungarvan, Co Waterford.

Navy divers will join searches which involved the local Coast Guard helicopter and lifeboat crews stationed at Helvick and Youghal.

The pair’s inflatable raft was found about half a mile west of Helvick Head after the alarm was raised shortly after 5pm yesterday but there has been no trace of the men.

Two life vests were recovered.

The men are thought to be from Co Tipperary and were understood to be in the area to go fishing.
