Seanad welcomes new Green Councillor

Green Party Councillor Mark Deary has been appointed to the Seanad.

The Taoiseach has appointed Green Party Councillor Mark Deary to fill the Seanad seat vacated by Deirdre DeBurca.

Ms DeBurca resigned from the Greens parliamentary party and Seanad earlier this month, saying she could not longer continue to support the Greens in Government.

The 46-year-old from Dundalk, Co Louth, is a businessman, vintner, and music promoter.

He has been a member of Louth County Council since June 2009 and Dundalk Town Council since 2004.
