UPDATE: Sci-fi themed bar The Cauldron hopeful of opening Dublin outpost
Owners of start-up sci-fi bar The Cauldron have debunked a claim that their plans to open a bar in Dublin have been cancelled.
The Cauldron already has venues in London, New York and Edinburgh.
Reacting to a facebook post on the page 'Dublin's Art & Antique Quarter' that claimed plans to open in Dublin had been cancelled due to "red tape", The Cauldron said it hopes to open a Dublin outpost in the future, and any claim to the contrary was not correct.
"We have at no point announced plans to open The Cauldron in Dublin, so nothing could have been "cancelled", nor have we ever had an agreement in place with this venue (on Francis Street). We have never had any issues with Dublin City Council, nor any dealings with them. The entire story is bizarre," said co-founder Matt Cortland, who added the business remained hopeful of bringing their sci-fi-inspired offering to Dublin.
"We are pressing ahead with expansion plans as normal that will at some stage include Dublin," he said. "We have venues in New York, London and shortly Edinburgh that are doing extremely well."
Matt previously elaborated on the inspiration behind the Cauldron as "the idea that magic is real and just inaccessible to ordinary people...Our goal is to use science - the magic of our world - to make that dream real."
