Rural homelessness is a problem which is often "hidden" in Ireland, according to the Simon Community.
The charity said today that it works at capacity across the country, both in urban and rural settings.
Geographical distance is often a major barrier, both for the homeless accessing services and also for service providers reaching people in need.
The homeless charity is calling on the Government to adapt a "nationally driven" response in a bid to end homelessness by 2016.
A review paper on the subject is being launched in Carrick-on-Shannon today.
