RTÉ have denied claims they are to spend €70,000 on a life-size bronze statue of Gerry Ryan.

RTÉ have denied claims they are to spend €70,000 on a life-size bronze statue of Gerry Ryan.

Today’s Sunday World newspaper says the State broadcaster has commissioned the piece which will be designed by sculptor Patrick O'Reilly.

However, RTÉ's 2FM have issued a statement on Twitter calling the story, 'inaccurate and incorrect'.

They admit that 2FM are planning a memorial to Gerry Ryan, but say it will not be a statue and "it does not cost €70,000 or anything close to it".
