Roscommon fire victim 'very popular' man

The man who died as a result of a house fire in Co Roscommon has been described as a very popular man in the region.

49-year-old Michael Kilcline was found dead at the farmhouse at Weekfield at around 9pm last night.

A post mortem is taking place this evening at Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe.

Gardai are describing the fire as a tragic accident.

Michael is survived by his brother John. Fr John McManus is the local Parish Priest, and spoke about Michael on Midlands 103 radio today.

"[He was] very well-known and very well liked in the wide area," he said.

"It's a tragedy that he died so young - our thoughts are with his brother John at this time."
