Seven school children and a bus driver have been detained in hospital following the bus crash in Co Mayo.

Seven school children and a bus driver have been detained in hospital following the bus crash in Co Mayo.

The coach, carrying 47 children and two teachers, tumbled down an embankment after the roadside collapsed.

The driver and seven students suffered significant injuries while 23 others were treated for minor cuts and bruises.

Most of the students are expected to return to Limerick by coach this evening.
