Galway RNLI say they have recovered the body of a young man from the waters at Renville in Oranmore this afternoon.

Galway RNLI say they have recovered the body of a young man from the waters at Renville in Oranmore this afternoon.

The Galway lifeboat launched at around 12.20pm after receiving a request for assistance from the Gardaí.

The casualty was taken onboard by RNLI crew and pronounced dead at Galway lifeboat station a short time later.

It is understood the body was spotted in the water by a team searching for missing student Michael Bugler.

The 20-year-old NUIG law student, who is from Clare, has been missing since December 18.

No formal identification has taken place.
