A public march will take place through the streets of Ballinasloe today to protest over plans by the HSE to close the 22-bed acute psychiatric unit at St Brigid's Hospital.
The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) says the HSE should not proceed with closing the unit, which covers counties Mayo and Galway, until acute mental health community teams are put in place.
The PNA says the march aim is to highlight the issue which has implications for patients in Galway, Roscommon and Mayo.
