Report due on death rates in Irish hospitals

A report is due to be published today outlining the death rates for various conditions at Irish hospitals.

The document, titled "Health Care Quality Indicators in the Irish Health System" marks the first time such breakdowns have been provided for individual facilities.

It was reported at the weekend that it will show the death rate amongst stroke patients can be up to four times higher in some hospitals than others.

Individual hospitals are not expected to be identified in the report.
