A new report has called on the Government to make greater use of electronic information in circulating material within the health service.

It says increased use of e-health applications will make the sector more efficient and economical.

Minister of State Tom Kitt has said patients and doctors will benefit from greater use of e-health.

“It empowers patients by enabling them to find out about their medical conditions and various treatment possibilities,” he said.

“It empowers clinicians and healthcare professionals by allowing them to provide a more informed and patient-orientated service through giving them access to more and better information about treatments and other parts of the care process.”
