Reilly promises stern action on Midlands Regional Hospital report

The Health Minister James Reilly has said he will take whatever actions are needed arising from a report into the deaths of four babies at the Midlands Regional Hospital.

The infants died shortly after birth in the Portlaoise facility, although they were not suffering from any abnormalities at the onset of labour.

Reilly has apologised to the families of the four babies who died, saying they were dealt with in a dehumanising nature.

Minister Reilly says he found the revelations in the television documentary on the cases upsetting, disturbing and shocking.
