Rehab meeting on chief executive salary today

The board of the Rehab Group is to meet today to discuss revealing the pay of the charity's chief executive, Angela Kerins.

The group has been under pressure to reveal Kerins' salary since news first emerged of the unexpectedly low profits made from its scratch card lottery.

Rehab has to date refused to reveal Ms Kerins' salary, arguing that over half of its funding comes from private sources.

But with growing public demands for more transparency in the charity sector, and with a PAC hearing on Rehab's funding before the end of the month, details could be revealed today.

Last year its total state funding was over €80m, and the charity may feel it is better to reveal the figures than to deal with further public anger.

The Government has previously admitted it cannot enforce its public pay cap on so-called "Section 39" agencies.
