Alcohol is the most common date-rape drug, according to The Rape Crisis Network Ireland.

The group is calling on the Government to urgently change this link between alcohol consumption and sexual violence by setting out stringent marketing measures that don't connect alcohol with having sex.

An RCNI study showed that in 10% of reported rapes, victims were incapacitated due to alcohol, and some victims believed they were taken less seriously because of this.
