Rattigan seeks Supreme Court appeal in 12-year-old case

Gang figure Brian Rattigan is seeking a Supreme Court appeal against his conviction for the murder of Declan Gavin outside an Abrakebabra takeaway in Dublin, 12 years ago.

Rattigan of Cooley Road, Drimnagh is serving a life sentence for the stabbing.

He is also serving 17 years for directing the supply of heroin while in prison.

He lost an appeal against his murder conviction earlier this year.

The Court of Criminal Appeal is now being asked to refer the case to the Supreme Court on grounds that it raises points of law of exceptional public importance.
