Public information event on climate change to be held in Dublin today

A Public Information Event on climate change will be held in Dublin's Mansion House today.

People can learn about the four local authorities' draft Climate Change Action Plans.

These authorities include Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council.

The event is part of the public consultation process for Dublin City Council's Draft Climate Action Change Plan.

The city council event will get underway at midday and runs until 5pm.

A welcome address will be given by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring.

The coordinator of the Climate Action Regional Office for Dublin, David Dodd, says similar events are planned across the city.

"Today's event is one of ten events across the four Dublin local authorities in the next two weeks," he said.

"The purpose of the events is that they're public information events to publicise the Draft Climate Action Change Plan that the local authorities have prepared.

"We are using these events for citizens to have their say on climate action and climate change and what local authorities can be doing on climate change, but also to let the public know what is happening in their areas," he said.
