Psychiatric nurses pass motion of no confidence in HSE area director

A meeting of psychiatric nurses in Galway and Roscommon has unanimously passed a motion of no confidence in the HSE Area Director of Nursing.

Nearly 100 members of the Psychiatric Nurses Association met in Galway over the last few days to discuss the ongoing dispute on mental health services in the region.

The meeting heard that short staffing, and poor managerial support has created a crisis that is hitting patient care.

PNA members from West Galway have this evening re-affirmed their determination to take industrial action if the HSE fails to provide sufficient staff for the acute unit at University College Hospital Galway.
