The Chief Constable of the PSNI has paid tribute to murdered detective garda Adrian Donohoe.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the murder of garda Donohoe, who was shot in the head during a botched credit union raid in Co Louth last month.

The 41-year-old father of two was escorting a staff member to Lordship credit union when he was killed.

Speaking to reporters at a PSNI policing board in the North today, Matt Baggott paid tribute to his southern colleague.

He said he wanted to express on behalf of the PSNI "our sadness at the loss of our garda colleague Adrian".

He also moved to "assure everybody that we are utterly committed, in partnership with our colleagues in the south, to bringing those responsible for his death to justice. It was a very sad day for policing across the whole of Ireland."

He said it had been "a privilege to attend det Donohoe's funeral and march alongside the garda commissioner in a show of solidarity".
