PSNI arrest pair in trafficking investigation

Detectives in the North have arrested a man and a woman as part of an investigation into potential human trafficking and labour exploitation.

The action followed complaints from people on Monday in the Portadown, Co Armagh, area of Mid Ulster. The woman is 26 years old and the man 25.

A PSNI spokesman said: “The two suspects have been taken to Lurgan police station for questioning on suspicion of human trafficking and exploitation of labour.

“Two properties have been searched and several items, including computers, have been seized.”

It is understood the detentions are not linked to the ongoing investigation into labour exploitation where 20 victims were rescued.
