Prosecution concludes case in Dundon trial

The prosecution has concluded its case in the trial of John Dundon who is alleged to have murdered 28-year-old Shane Geoghegan.

The 31-year-old of Hyde Road, Limerick is accused of ordering a killing that led to the Garryowen rugby player being shot dead near his home at the Clonmore Estate, Kilteragh on November 9, 2008.

It is alleged that Shane Geoghegan was gunned down in a case of mistaken identity.

The key prosecution witness April Collins gave evidence at the Special Criminal Court that she was present when John Dundon ordered the killing.

She said he became angry when he realised the wrong man had been shot.

The prosecution has now finished calling evidence and the defence will start tomorrow.

The non-jury court has been told John Dundon will not be giving evidence.
