Priory Hall residents: Our lives have been on hold for six years

Priory Hall residents have said the last two years has caused them to lose trust in the Government.

However, they also paid tribute to Dublin City Council's Chief fire officer, who assured them he would deal with the deficiencies of their homes.

It comes after striking a deal during a meeting with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny yesterday evening, who described the residents as the victims of one of the "worst excesses of the Celtic Tiger era".

Under the scheme, owner-occupiers will see the apartments transferred to Dublin City Council with residents given pre-approval to buy new homes.

Ursula Graham, a single owner occupier at the Donaghmeade complex, said: "Hopefully now we will move on, we will get to leave Priory Hall behind us and we'll get to start our lives again, our lives have been on hold.

"Publically, this has been in the media for two years, but we have been battling for six years since we moved into Priory Hall in relation to all the issues."
