Poll shows days are numbered for the Seanad

Support for the abolition of the Seanad remains high this morning, with 49% of people saying they will vote to get rid of it.

According to the latest Sunday Times' Behaviour And Attitudes study, 33% say they want to see the Upper House of the Oireachtas protected.

When the 'don't knows' are excluded, the Seanad would be abolished by a 60 - 40 vote.

However, The Sunday Times Political Editor Stephen O'Brien said the Government may see some backlash over their claims about the cost of running the Seanad.
