A Garda spokesperson says the Commissioner Martin Callinan has no plans to issue a statement on the whistleblower controversy today.
That is despite speculation the Commissioner would respond to calls from Government ministers for him to withdraw his description of the actions of the whistleblowers as "disgusting".
The controversy is expected to dominate the political agenda this week after a number of Labour ministers supported the call from Leo Varadkar for the Commissioner to withdraw his comments.
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has since said issues should be raised at Cabinet rather than being aired in public.
Political Correspondent with the Irish Times Fiach Kelly says Labour has faced criticism over the timing of their comments to the controversy.
