A pensioner died after being confronted by a burglar who broke into his Co Derry home early today.
The 76-year-old man was with his wife when the intruder climbed through a rear window at the house in Glenmore Gardens, in the Mountsandel area of Coleraine.
Police said an altercation took place and the pensioner died a short time later.
The intruder is described as tall, with a local accent. He was wearing a dark-coloured coat and light grey jogging bottoms.
