Pedestrian killed in Cavan hit-and-run

A post mortem examination will be carried out later today on the body of a man who is believed to have been killed as a result of a hit-and-run incident in Co Cavan.

A post mortem examination will be carried out later today on the body of a man who is believed to have been killed as a result of a hit-and-run incident in Co Cavan.

The pedestrian, who was in his late twenties, was hit by a car on the Carrickmacross Road out of Kingscourt, sometime between 2am and 2pm yesterday.

The road is still closed and motorists are being advised that diversions are in place in the area.

Gardaí have appealed for information from the public.
