Payments body sends reminder of halt to Laser card service

People are being reminded that Laser cards will cease to operate at midnight on Friday.

The Irish Payment Service Organisation says that after that time retailers that attempt to present a charge to a Laser card will receive an error message.

People's Laser cards should have now been replaced with Visa and MasterCard debit cards.

The last Laser file transmission will be processed almost 18 years to the day since the very first Laser transaction in 1996.
