Pat Hickey could be back in Ireland soon

Pat Hickey is to have his passport returned to him and will be allowed to leave Brazil.

A judge ruled this evening that he can return to Ireland for medical treatment, on the condition he pays a bond of €410,000.

While the judge noted there was a possibility that he would not come back to Brazil, she said it was necessary to balance this with concerns for his health.

Brazilian officials have retained Mr Hickey's passport since his arrest in relation to ticket touting during the Rio Olympics.

He has denied all allegations against him.
