Paramedics treat 108 people after Hardwell gig

Up to 108 young people have been treated by paramedics for the effects of drink and drugs outside a concert in Belfast.

Medical teams declared a major incident last night due to the number of people needing help outside the Odyssey Arena.

Seventeen were taken to hospital last night. Their conditions are now described as stable.

Some of them were not allowed inside the Odyssey Arena to see the Dutch DJ Hardwell who is due to play in the O2 in Dublin tonight.

Toxicology tests will be carried out today on many of those who fell ill.

Emergency crews say many, including young teens, turned up already heavily intoxicated.

Joe Hyland, from the SOS Bus in Northern Ireland, treated some of the people said: "The problem is that the children have had a chance to buy drink or get drink to consume on the bus perhaps and by the time they arrive, we're picking up the pieces before the concert starts."
